BRAIN FOOD AÇAÍ BOWL

Holistic Health Coach Christy Ross has created a stunning açaí bowl with adaptogens Mucuna Pruriens and Rhodolia to support brain function! Christy shares how to create the beautiful marbled bowl, a morning craft for staying in.

There are few things as visually appealing and as delicious as an açaí bowl. When you hit your local juice or smoothie joint, you may not realize how easy they are to make at home, and how you can actually make them way more healthy than the ones you find out and about.

Why? Because smoothies and smoothie bowls are the BEST way to integrate healing and medicinal foods and herbs into your daily regimen: Antibacterial and antimicrobial foods like ginger and turmeric, and phytoestrogens, which are amazing for women’s hormonal changes (and especially for women going through perimenopause!), such as flaxseed.

And then there are adaptogens! In this smoothie bowl, I include Sun Potion’s Rhodiola* and Mucuna Pruriens. Rhodiola is a root used for increasing energy, endurance, strength and mental capacity. It's adaptogenic properties help the body adapt to and resist physical, chemical and environmental stress. Mucuna Pruriens enhances brain function, soothes the nervous system, and supports overall well being, elevating mood.

Try it out, and enjoy the beauty of it, as well as the energy and strength this glorious powerhouse will give you!

*If you are looking for a substitution for Rhodiola, try our Lion's Mane or Ashwagandha.

Açaí Swirl Bowl

Smoothie

1 frozen acai packet (unsweetened)

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 tsp. almond butter

1 tsp. freshly grated ginger

1 tsp. freshly grated turmeric

1 tsp. Sun Potion Rhodiola

1 tsp. Sun Potion Mucuna Pruriens (or 1 dropperful of Sun Potion Mucuna Pruriens Transcendent Elixir)

1 tbsp. hemp hearts

1 tbsp. flax seeds

3/4 cup almond milk (or coconut water)

Toppings

1-2 tsp. coconut milk

flaked unsweetened coconut

bee pollen

freeze-dried raspberries

frozen raspberries

organic rose petals

 Method

Run water over the açaí packet for 5 seconds, and then break up the açaí with your fingers before opening the packet

Add to blender or vitamix along with all the remaining smoothie ingredients (It should resemble a soft sherbet or very thick smoothie when you are done, adding more liquid if necessary)

How to do the pretty swirl? Pour several droplets of coconut milk onto the smoothie and use a chopstick to swirl, first up and down, and then right to left until you get the marbleized look

Serve with whatever toppings you like!

 Enjoy!
