Since most of us are spending more time at home and our routines have changed, it feels nice to sneak in a little nourishing skin treatment when we can. I love to multi-task, I'll have the mask work its magic whilst I clean the house or do some work emails- this can make an everyday task a little more rewarding! My children always have a good giggle when I appear from the bathroom looking like a green swamp monster! Bonus!
I love to make masks with kitchen pantry items. It feels fun to make 'potions' for the face, a bit like when kids make mud pies and 'potions' in the garden. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Honey is a great place to start. It is naturally antibacterial and antiseptic which makes it very soothing and healing, hydrating and moisturising. Honey is high in antioxidants and helps boost skin's natural collagen production. Have I sold it to you yet? Sun Potion's Bio-Active Honey is particularly potent with its high levels of active oxygen. This makes it a restorative tonic and liquid gold. This Active Honey has been scientifically tested by an independent laboratory to measure its Active Honey Factor (AHF). The AHF of 40+ means a bioavailable active oxygen content of 40%.
Next on the menu is Sun Potion's White Dragon Matcha. Matcha is high in anti-inflammatory properties, reducing redness and excessive sebum production. It is said to stimulate elastin production which will leave your skin looking firmer. The antioxidants in Matcha can help protect your skin from free radicals.
Pearl powder is up next, Sun Potion's freshwater Pearl will add so much to your mask. Taoist herbalists have used it for centuries for inner and outer radiance. It contains at least 30 trace minerals along with minerals such as silica and selenium which can help boost skin health. The amino acids such as conchiolin helps boost skin's collagen production and give you a plumper, more radiant complexion.
I like to take a teaspoon of each and mix into a paste using Sun Potion's Solar Rose Water, add a little at a time to create desired consistency. Rose medicine opens the heart and soothes the skin. A joyful scent which in turn will hydrate the skin and help keep the mask active- this isn't like a clay mask and won't dry and start to crack so you can leave it on for as long as feels comfortable. Don't forget the neck and décolletage!
