REISHI RELAXATION TONIC


On the journal today, Kristin Dahl shares a relaxation tonic that will blissfully send you into the deepest slumber. Infused with Reishi which may help support the body’s natural sleep cycle and improve sleep quality, this potion is the perfect addition to your evening routine. 

Sleep is essential to our physical and mental health. It’s the only time when our bodies’ energy can be reassigned from daily activities to other key functions, such as growth, cellular repair and optimal brain performance. As we sleep, our brains generate new pathways that help us retain memory and learn new information, our hormones self-regulate, growth hormone is released and our immune system is strengthened. Chronic lack of sleep can result in brain fog, weakened immunity, low libido and mental imbalance. This makes sleep one of the most important components of our daily self-care routine.  

This recipe uses Reishi, an adaptogenic mushroom that, when used over time, can help support the body’s natural sleep cycle and improve sleep quality. There is also the optional addition of Ashwagandha, which is a helpful ally to overcome stress-induced insomnia or waking throughout the night. These herbs, paired with a bit of ghee or coconut butter + some raw honey and warming spices, create a balancing blend of elements that help to relax the nervous system while calming the mind & spirit.  

This tonic is the perfect addition to any night-time routine to support relaxation and restorative sleep. 

Reishi Relaxation Tonic

Serves 2 - Prep time: 5 mins

 Ingredients

1 cup hot water

1 cup warmed almond milk

2 tsp. Sun Potion Reishi

Options for additional sleep support:

1/4th tsp. Sun Potion Ashwagandha

1 tbsp. ghee or Cap Beauty Coconut Butter

1-2 tbsp. Sun Potion Bio-Active Honey and/or 3-6 drops Omica Butterscotch Stevia

pinch Himalayan salt

Suggestion to add:

a pinch of cardamom, a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of saffron 

 

Reishi

An adaptogenic mushroom that enhances the body’s resistance to internal and external stressors and promotes longevity by increasing immunity. It is helpful for relaxation, anxiety relief and sleep support. Especially supportive to those with anxiety, in need of sleep support, mental clarity and rebuilding vitality.

Ashwagandha

An adaptogen that supports the body through chronic stress. Ashwagandha is known for its neuro-protective, anti-anxiety, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties. Most supportive for those with anxiety, depression, depletion, or those moving through major life transitions. Especially helpful for individuals overcoming burnout.
